Art excercise in warm grey art markers. My scanner is going senile and so has decided not only to ignore the original colors but also to cut up the image as it sees fit... I'll rescan this to proper jsutice when/if I get a new scanner. Overall though I love working with markers so much it's worth it.

Blind Love
2009-06-13

Blind love is usually not a good thing-- is it really love at all if you don't even know them?

Anyway, just having some fun before i get back to AX prints. :) Avocado is my new favorite marker color as you can tell <3

Kusuri-Uri Finished!
2009-06-07

Finally! First print for AX done: that's why there are the ugly watermarks. I'll replace them with the non-watermarked versions after the convention. :)
I actually really love how this looks with the background. Beautiful Japanese patterns (which i distorted with textures and crazy gradients) are from here. Rules grant permission to use.

Linali/Rinari from D. Gray-Man. A print for AX, although background will most definitely change. The clouds are eh.

Colorful Silks (WIP)
2009-04-16
Fanart of kusuriuri(Medicine Seller) from the show Mononoke. Not to be confused with Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke, the Kusuriuri is an exorcist in a roughyl edo-era Japan, constantly bedecked in bright colors and settings that are some combination between Art Nouveau and woodblock prints. A Horro/Mystery, one of my favorites, although calling ti peculiar doesn't really cover it.
Kusuriuri is actually a male but the androgyny in this is intentional- loyal to the show, where it's almost impossible to tell, ever. Seriously: really. And thats his sword of exorcism~
I intend to add a background to this soon, so for the moment this is unfinished. But I will finish it, because I like how it's truned out so far. I spent so much time on it too- the original is so big it doens't fit on my scanner. ;^; I wonder if I can find soemone with a large-format scanner...

Black&White
2009-04-15
An art project. The assignment was to draw six hands based on a model, the wooden one in the studio or just your own hand.
I went a little over the top with microns (inking pens) after I found a book on technical pens. There is so much that cna be done, so much texture and interest that can be added using only a pen. So all of this is in pure black and white, the depth created by dots and dashes. It's painstaking but worth it. I love detail like this but it is much too time-consuming to be feasible for most projects. >:
But real techinical pens are out of my budget-$20 for one. ;^; I'lll stick with my $5 microns thank you. <3
The original is 11x17, huge, so i scaled it down a lot for the web. But I also lost some of the detail. psh.

Lelouch- Britannia!
2009-04-05
Lelouch vi Britannia, from Code Geass. Mastermind, royalty, underground revolution leader- watch the show it's amazing.
It's spring break for me and I have been working on so many things. I should be uploading more next week as I finsh a couple projects up.I love having infinite time to draw, it's making me hate school ;^;.
Been listening to 30 Seconds to Mars. Beautiful Lie is probably the most beautiful muic video I've seen, ever. Watch it if you haven't yet. Filmed in Greenland, it captures that gourgeous blue color of really cold weather. And the slow motion/constant scene cuts is both grating and really interesting. So watch it.

Orihime, the Overnight Comic
2009-03-21
There was a contest at my local anime club to create a manga no more than four pages long. I learned about it the day before the deadline and spent a couple hours making this. So much fun! I've never written a manga before, and it was difficult- layout, chracters, plot-- but fun.

The story is based on the Japanese fable of Tanabata. Orihime, princess of the universe (seriously xD) is married off to a guy who she ends up falling in love with. But her father doesn't approve, for any number of reasons. Read about it on Wiki: Tanabata.

I want to continue this if I find time. :)

Seas Would Rise

Felt like drawing some royalty. The whole look of furs and glittering gold is no longer in practice (yay?) but still. Also, happy St. Patrick's Day! I'm surprised to see so many people into it. Green is such a pretty color it's nice just to look out at the crowds.
Done with copics in about three hours. :)

Hopeful Birds
2008-12-21
You can kind of tell my ink pens are dying. ; ; Anyway, inspired by the song "Valentine's Day":

"My insides all turn to ash so slow/ and blew away as I collapsed so cold/... So now you're gone/ and I was wrong/ i never knew what it was like to be alone/ on a Valentine's day" I actually had a lot of fun with this. I had been studying pigeons and finally found a way to apply that, although you can't tell here. But pigeons are so itneresting; colorful and yet no one notices them.

Also, I totally got he wrong holiday-- it's christmas. Genious. xD
